For flawless function of sliding sleeves, backtapers are applied in the toothing. Having slanting surfaces within the groove prevents the coupling body from springing out under load. With our tools, backtapers are machined within the tightest of tolerances in a rotative synchronous process. Here, we design the cycloid track of the cutting edge in such a way that the specified involute is milled within the required toothing quality. Backtaper milling means that Finish-broaching is no longer needed and, as there is no material consolidation due to forming processes, the workpiece can be more intricately designed in general. As a further advantage, additional operations can also be integrated into the same machine or tool carrier.
